Do you often dream of starting your own business as a massage therapist? Are you looking for the courage you need to start becoming an entrepreneur? Are you ready to empower yourself with a game plan that will drive you towards success?
If so, Start Massage Biz has 5 confidence-boosting exercises for you. Grab a journal or a piece of paper and a pen or pencil.
It’s time to start documenting some solid preparation towards becoming the self-employed individual you’ve been hoping to become!
Exercise 1: Address Your Greatest Fear
What’s been stopping you from moving forward with your business ideas? What are you most afraid of, moving forward?
Identify the number one fear holding you back from chasing your dream business. Write it down on your piece of paper.
Now that you’ve identified your biggest fear in starting your own business, it’s time to come up with a contingency plan. If your worst fear comes true, how would you tackle it?
For example, if you went broke trying to establish your business, what steps would you take to recover financially?
Rationally working out solutions to your fears rather than letting them hold you back is essential if you’re going to start a business.
There are many challenges and obstacles that you may confront. But the way that you can combat any issues that arise is with logical analysis of the situation and realistic planning on how to tackle it.
If it would make you feel more secure or if you have multiple fears, you could repeat this step for each fear that you have.
There is always a solution to your worries when it comes to creating a business.
Exercise 2: Imagine Your Future Self
Imagine yourself 10 years in the future, looking back at your present self. Imagine how you would feel if you never accomplished your goal of opening your own practice or business.
10 years from now or when you’re retired, would you regret not creating your own business?
If your answer is, “Yes, I would regret it in the future if I never started my own business”, then it’s time to get cracking.
Be someone that your future self will adore. Start setting up today to enjoy tomorrow’s success.
Exercise 3: Crunch the Numbers
Now that you know that you’re definitely starting your business, it’s time to figure out how much you have to save to get started.
Do some research right now and record your findings in a notebook.
How much does it cost to start a massage therapy business?
What are the usual expenses?
What will all that financial stuff look like?
Knowing the real numbers behind what you have to do makes what you need to achieve so much more tangible.
You’ll be able to see measured amounts right before your eyes. And from there, determine the next steps towards achieving what you’d like to accomplish.
Exercise 4: Imagine How You’d Feel if You Achieved Your Goal
It’s time to take the Law of Attraction for a test drive. You’ve done some research and are starting to get a feel for what it would be like to have your own practice or business. Now, it’s time to put on the future you’s shoes.
Embody the feelings of joy and success that you’re going to feel once you achieve all your goals:
How does it feel to have your own practice? What are the benefits of your job? Do you get to decide your entire schedule? How does your ideal office look? What do your ideal customers look like?
Imagine all of these things exactly the way you want them to be. Allow yourself to feel as though you’ve already achieved your goals. And that will motivate you to achieve them so much more.
Write down the answers to all of the above questions in complete sentences in your journal. This way, you can go back and reflect on them to help motivate you to move forward every day.
Exercise 5: Come Up With a Plan
The time has arrived to structure a game plan. Start by writing down your overarching goal, which is starting your own business. And then break it down into little bite-sized tasks.
The best goals that you can possibly write down are SMART goals. Create one for each component that you need to build and solidify your business.
Once you have all your goals set up, make sure they all have deadlines. You can then track these deadlines using a project management software tool to maximize your motivation.
Some things that you’re going to have to know about to run your business successfully are how to handle branding, finances, marketing, and client retention. Luckily for you, Start Massage Biz offers a series of courses that cover these topics.
We’re here to help you get the courage you need as you move forward with starting your own business!
